Custom Cakes
At Boonzaaijer’s Dutch Bakery in Colorado Springs, every custom cake carries more than a century of European baking tradition. Founded in 1999 by fourth-generation baker Stephen Boonzaaijer, the shop continues a family legacy that began in the Netherlands in 1896. Stephen learned the craft from age five, completed formal pastry training and apprenticeships in the Netherlands, and later refined his skills at Colorado Springs’ Broadmoor Hotel before opening the bakery. That heritage shows up in every cake we make: scratch ingredients, precise European technique, and our signature Bavarian filling—the same style that made the family’s Michigan shop famous decades ago.
Our custom cakes are built for celebration and for flavor. Single-layer cakes feature three layers of cake and two generous layers of Bavarian filling. Double-layer cakes use four layers of cake and three layers of the same signature filling. You choose the cake flavor, Bavarian filling, fruit preserves, icing, shape (including square), edible images, and inscription color. Standard decorations are included at no extra charge, and cakes start at $24.
